ESR Valentina Montoya gives physics talk at District University of Bogotá

February 12, 2021 by RebecaBV

UHEI ESR Valentina Montoya gave an outreach talk on the 26th January at the at District University of Bogotá, in Colombia.

What do we know about dark matter today? The goal of this talk was to generate a pocket of basic ideas about dark matter. We made a brief recount of concepts, and also spotted some historical ideas of the existence of matter that interacts gravitationally but we do not see, until we reach the real evidence established in 1933 by Fritz Zwickey and in 1970 by Vera Rubin.

Also, some possible solutions were briefly mentioned from baryonic matter, non-baryonic matter and modified gravity. Finally we mentioned some dark matter detection mechanisms.
