Observation of Excess Events in the XENON1T Dark Matter Experiment
Scientists from the international XENON collaboration have announced today a surprising excess of events in the data from their XENON1T.
The results have been first presented today, June 17, in a webinar given by the graduate student Evan Shockley (University of Chicago).
The excess of events could be due to a very small residual amount of tritium. However, it could also be due to some exotic physics, indicating the presence of solar axions or pointing to unknown properties of neutrinos.
